Webflow Logic – What to expect

Webflow is going above and beyond in helping the no-code community by providing additional features such as Membership(link from our other article), which is released in the Beta version, and Logic which still is under development and no official date for release is made known and here is what we know.

Webflow integration of Logic flow

The big news that Webflow announced during their No-Code Conference in 2021 was logic flow, or "if-this-then-that" action occurs. Webflow aims to bring the power of software engineers into the hands of anyone who wants to choose, define and control user actions by setting up conditions in order to trigger the following action.

Aside from announcing the Membership in Beta version for creating as they call “gated” experiences, meaning, offering content that no one can access except its subscribers, the Webflow logic is excepted to massively help no-coders in designing custom workflows.

As of today, 13 September 2022, the community will be able to apply for Logic testers, due to the beta release of Logic. We will be able to leverage Logic flow in Webflow by creating visually depicted flows that specify what and when an autonomous action ought to take place when a lead is received from various site forms.

We can automate and embed a number of functions directly into our website, such as interacting with customers, updating user-generated content, and routing sales leads.

The great strength is that everything is planned and handled within the Webflow platform, eliminating the need to install any third-party software. This is absolutely powerful for anyone who fully gets the true potential of a logic flow.

How Logic flow really works

The goal of creating logic flow is to enable users to control and record consumer behaviors, sync those actions with their content management system, and connect sites and applications across platforms.

Whether you're generating sales leads for your company or collecting email newsletter signups, forms are one of the most effective tools any website can offer.

Webflow logic (by developers known as business logic) is built on the "if-this-then-that" principle, which means that it is an online service that automates Web-based processes by triggering and handling follow-up actions when user-specified events occur.

There are various types of forms, but we will try to demonstrate through a Lead generation form.

Logic flow in Lead Generation form explained

Let us consider a lead-generating form created in Webflow that seeks to collect various data from potential customers interested in a Demo of the product(shared example from Webflow). The example below reflects a designed form with different fields to be filled with personal and other data to submit the request.

Until we scroll down to the individual fields with a dropdown selection, this form would be rather simple and straightforward. These dropdown options are the fields that indicate that logic flow is being implemented in the form.

When it comes to selecting, in our case, the “company size”, this is the interaction that determines the triggers and activates the subsequent actions on the logic flow behind the form.

As we see, there are four options listed in this field, meaning that the logic is designed in a way that there are at least 4 subsection action flows. In this case, these four options depending on the selection we make in the form will automatically activate the condition in the background of the logic workflow design.

This condition needs to be bounded and have a logical connection with triggers in the form. The If Condition always drives towards one of the two actions, True or False.

When a form option is chosen, the IF condition kicks in and directs the following activity towards the True or False action. The process is guided in this manner toward its intended destination and next step by the flow of actions.

As we can see it in the example presented above, depending which condition is activated, we predefine which email to send forward to that specific request. At the end, closing the logic flow with the closing email with the same message that can be delivered to the recipients as the last action.

Greatness of Webflow itself

According to some estimates, fewer than 0.5 percent of the world's population can code. All the big ideas of technological innovation in economics, health care, business, and other industries, are possibly brought to life through this small group of software engineers.

Given this fact, as well as the promise for overall technological, industrial, economic, and other improvements through software engineering, Webflow sought to overcome the challenge of a shortfall of human qualified coders.

HOW?

They've been crushing the web application industry with all the amazing features they've launched since establishing their exceptional no-code platform putting the web application in all another level.

Few of its outstanding features include their unique Designer, a replacement of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript with a smooth, easy-to-navigate visual canvas, making it possible to convert the design into a well-structured and responsive product.

Following the next great features of Webflow, the CMS, which is compatible for use by designers, editors, developers, and content strategists.

When it comes to managing the website’s content, usually turns out to be frustrating and time-consuming due to the complicated dashboards.

Through their awesome Editor, Webflow successfully took care of simplifying the process of writing and editing the content directly on the site, avoiding the need for other team members to intervene in back-end CMS and others.

Creating new content and publishing it, all it takes is pasting your content and press a single button to publish it live on your site.

Interactions are another feature where Webflow is rocking. The interactions and animation capabilities provided by Webflow enable designers to create rich, sophisticated animations without ever having to consider the underlying coding.

Parallax animations, tie motion to scroll progress, micro-interactions, multi-step animations, after-effect, and Lottie animation integrations are just a few of the interactions that can be built on Webflow, always, without opening the </>

In conclusion

Webflows' primary goal is to assist no-code creators by giving them the ability to articulate their ideas without the need for third-party interference, in this case, coders and developers in general.

The option of Logic in Webflow is expected to be released during 2022.

For enthusiasts of no-code, Webflow is the way to go with its outstanding existing feature, and with the upcoming Logic and other fantastic features on the way.

We will be delivering news in the subject and other "How to" content so stay tuned.
